A delegation of the Department of World History and International Relations of the Educational-Scientific Institute of International Relations, History and Philosophy of Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy, consisting of professors Natalka Zemziulina and Olha Morozova, paid a working visit to Pomeranian University.
A cooperation agreement exists between Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy and Pomeranian University in Słupsk, within which the academic internship of students and lecturers is carried out, and the dual degree program is implemented.
During the visit, there was a meeting with the Vice-Rector for International Affairs Dr. Hab. Marek Tukasik. The parties discussed the opportunities for joint grant programs that can be implemented by the universities, specifically focusing on the NAVA program, support for academic mobility and benefits for Cherkasy students undertaking internships. Other significant meetings were held with the Director of the Institute of History Dr. Hab. Robert Kuśnierza and the Coordinator of student programs of the Institute Prof. Dr. Hab. Roman Drozd, who offered a new vision for the educational programs under which training is already taking place, and considered the possibilities of cooperation on new ones. Similar Educational Programs such as “Diplomatic Relations” and “International Relations”, which are implemented at the partner Higher Education Institutions, have also been analysed.
The issue of research topics of mutual interest to scholars of both HEIs in the historical, archaeological, political, and military spheres was also raised. The Polish colleagues emphasized the clear stance of the university regarding the support of Ukraine in the war with the russian federation.
A particularly warm moment of the visit was the meeting of eight students of Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy, who are currently participating in a semester-long internship in Słupsk, with the lecturers from their alma mater. The discussions covered the peculiarities of the organization of the educational process, the content of educational programs, the combination of studies at two HEIs, the attitude of Polish lecturers towards Ukrainian students, living conditions, travels across Europe and, of course, their care for native Ukraine.
The international cooperation between the universities provides opportunities not only to deepen professional knowledge, but also forms a responsible civic position among the youth of both European states.
