Student self-government is an independent public activity of students, which ensures that students fulfil their duties, defend their rights, and participate in the management of the higher education institution for the comprehensive development of the personality of members of the university community.
The main tasks and functions of student self-government:
- protection of the rights and interests of students studying at the higher education institution;
- assistance in conducting educational and upbringing work at the University;
- support for students’ educational, scientific, and creative activities; promotion of the formation of moral and ethical norms among students, fostering patriotism;
- promotion of a healthy lifestyle, safe behaviour, prevention of student offenses;
- contribution to the achievement of sustainable development goals;
- assistance in improving students’ living and recreational conditions;
- support in establishing various student groups, societies, associations, interest clubs, and coordination of their activities;
- cooperation with student self-government bodies of other higher education institutions, youth public organizations;
- promotion of graduate employment and attraction of students to part-time employment during their free time from studies;
- provision of participation in addressing issues of international student exchange;
- promotion of student participation in international, all-Ukrainian, interregional, regional, and other student competitions, conferences, Olympiads;
- provision of student participation in the implementation of the state youth policy;
- facilitation of providing informational, legal, psychological, financial, juridical and other types of assistance to students in cooperation with the relevant services;
- representation in collegial, representative, working, advisory bodies and their structural units; cooperation with academic group mentors (curators), dormitory supervisors, department heads, and other structural units.
