The task of a modern institution of higher education is also to create the necessary conditions that will contribute to the development of a culture of mental health care.
The individual has always been at the centre of the policy of providing educational services at our university. This applies not only to students pursuing higher education but also to lecturers and staff. One of the achievements of Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy was the opening of the Educational-Scientific Centre for Mental Health. The creation of the ESC for Mental Health reflects the tradition of BKNUC, which implies caring for the comprehensive development and comfort of students, faculty, and staff.
The Centre for Mental Health actively participates in projects within the framework of the All-Ukrainian mental health program “How are you?” initiated by the First Lady Olena Zelenska. The centre cooperates with the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration and Viktoriia Shepil, regional coordinator of the All-Ukrainian mental health program.
The activities of the ESC for Mental Health were successfully presented to the Coordination Centre for Mental Health under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and 20 regional coordinators of the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program from all regions of Ukraine.
In November 2024, at the working meeting of the Coordination Centre for Mental Health for representatives of higher education institutions, Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy became one of the three universities of Ukraine that presented the experience of implementing the mental health component in the educational process.
