The University of Málaga (Spain) hosted its 15th International Week from 13 to 17 April, which was attended by Nataliia Slyvka, Head of the Department of Modern English Teaching Practices at Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy and Erasmus+ International Academic Mobility Project Coordinator.

The University of Málaga is a modern public higher education institution founded in 1972. Today, it serves as a key educational and research centre in southern Spain. It actively promotes international cooperation, participates in Erasmus+ programmes, and implements innovative teaching approaches that combine academic training with practical and research activities. Particular emphasis is placed on internationalisation, support for international students and lecturers, as well as the development of an intercultural environment.

The International Week programme combined academic, professional, and cultural components. Participants attended project presentations within the KA131 and KA171 programmes, where opportunities for student and staff mobility, as well as the expansion of inter-university partnerships, were discussed. An important part of the programme included presentations by individual university units, which provided insights into their educational and research activities, administrative practices, and international initiatives.

A separate segment of the programme focused on the university’s social and cultural initiatives, including support for inclusion, integration of international students, the development of student communities, and the promotion of intercultural dialogue.

Participants were given access to materials and presentations in PowerPoint format and took part in various meetings and events held at different locations across the city and the university. These activities facilitated the informal exchange of experiences and contributed to a better understanding of the university’s infrastructure.

“The signing of the inter-institutional agreement with the University of Málaga was preceded by extensive and systematic preparatory and coordination work,” noted Nataliia Slyvka, who initiated this cooperation back in 2023. “I am very pleased that, despite all the challenges, the project is finally being implemented and is opening up new opportunities for academic mobility and joint projects between our universities.” In addition, during the visit, an initiative was launched to include Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy in the TransFrontEU project – a consortium of the University of Málaga and two other Spanish universities: the University of Cádiz and the University of Huelva. This step is expected to significantly expand opportunities for international cooperation.

It is worth noting that this is already the second Erasmus+ academic mobility project implemented by the Department of Modern English Teaching Practices. The first project, carried out in cooperation with the University of Valladolid, has been successfully operating since 2019. Within its framework, more than 25 students and academic staff of the Educational-Scientific Institute of Foreign Languages, as well as other structural units of the university, have participated in the academic mobility programme.
