The lecturers of Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy, the Director of Educational-Scientific Institute of International Relations, History and Philosophy, Professor Natalka Zemziulina and Professor of the Department of World History and International Relations Olha Morozova visited the University of Warsaw. As a result of the working visit, further directions of cooperation with historians of the Polish Institution of Higher Education were outlined.

Ukrainian historians took part in the meeting of the members of the “History of Ukraine” section of the Student Scientific Circle of Historians of the University of Warsaw (the head: Dr. Elżbieta Kwiecińska). Professor Olha Morozova presented the report “Sytuacja społeczna i walki ludności cywilnej w dobie inwazji rosyjskiej na Ukrainie” (Social situation and struggle of the civilian population during the Russian invasion of Ukraine). The meeting and discussion of the problem took place within a series of lectures devoted to the Europeanization of Ukraine (the previous lecture “Od Pomarańczowej rewolucji do wojny rosyjsko-ukraińskiej. Ukraina na drodze ku Europie” was delivered on March 30, 2023). The speech caused an active discussion among Polish youth. In her speech, Professor Natalka Zemziulina singled out the realities of the functioning of the higher education system in the conditions of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Ukrainian students and scientists also took part in the online meeting. At the same time, in Ukraine, at the Department of World History and International Relations, Oleksandr Karabin's PhD thesis “Austro-Hungarian and German prisoners on Ukrainian territories in 1914-1918” was being discussed. Oleksandr himself joined the discussion from the front line, which greatly impressed Polish colleagues and students and became a real example of science in wartime conditions. Yevhen Sinkevich, Professor of the Department of World History and International Relations of BKNUC, also joined the discussion of the problems caused by the war. As a refugee from occupied Kherson, the historian revealed the specifics of the population’s life under occupation and the actions of the resistance movement. He also spoke about the torture chambers of the occupiers.

BKNUC scientists are convinced that working with young people is the most effective mechanism for introducing progressive changes into our lives. And the cooperation of Ukrainian and Polish students and lecturers is a guarantee of the development of Ukrainian-Polish relations, an effective tool of public diplomacy in the field of science.
