Lecturers of Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy received certificates of appreciation from the NGO “Association Noosphere” for their active mentoring support of student teams during the local stage of the global hackathon NASA Space Apps Challenge.
In 2025, the local stage of NASA Space Apps Challenge Dnipro, organised by the NGO “Association Noosphere”, became a record-breaking event for Ukraine: 434 participants formed 90 teams, securing first place in Europe and 47th place worldwide for Ukraine among 555 locations. On October 4–5, participants worked in both online and offline formats, developing innovative solutions based on NASA’s open data.
BKNUC lecturers played an important role in preparing and guiding the student teams, serving as mentors during the local stage of the hackathon. For their professional guidance, expert support, and contribution to fostering innovative thinking among students, the following lecturers were recognised with certificates of appreciation:
Vitalii Diduk – Head of the Department of Automation and Computer-Integrated Technologies;
Oleksandr Korobko – Senior Lecturer at the Department of Agronomy, Biology and Ecology;
Fedir Hontsa – Senior Lecturer at the Department of Fine and Decorative Applied Arts.
Thanks to the lecturers’ mentoring support, students were able to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams, combining technical, scientific, and creative approaches to addressing global challenges. Teams from Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy have been participating in NASA Space Apps Challenge for four consecutive years, and the lecturers’ mentoring involvement has become an important component of the university’s consistent success at both national and international levels.
