Associate Professor of the Department of Intellectual Property and Civil Law Disciplines, Nataliia Popova, together with Associate Professor of the Department of Chemistry and Nanomaterials Science, Valentyna Lytvyn, who has many years of experience in the synthesis of gold and silver nanoparticles, combined scientific research with practical cosmetology and obtained a patent for an innovative cosmetic product.
It was a journey of research, testing, verification of the formula’s stability and compatibility of its components. As a result, they managed to create a cream in which innovations are backed by solid scientific knowledge.
“Today, the Ukrainian market is flooded with cosmetics from South Korea and China, where gold nanoparticles are actively used. I wondered: why are there almost no Ukrainian developments among these products? That’s how the idea of developing a Ukrainian cosmetic product with gold nanoparticles came about,” Nataliia Popova said.
In cosmetics, gold nanoparticles have antioxidant properties, help reduce inflammatory processes, enhance the penetration of active ingredients, support skin elasticity and firmness, and give a healthy glow effect.
However, developing the formula is only part of the work. In today’s environment, where technologies are copied very quickly, it is important not only to create a product but also to legally protect the results of one’s work.
That is why the scientists paid special attention to patenting their formula, as this is not merely a formal procedure but a strategic step.
