Yuliia Sidenko, Director of the Mental Health Research and Training Centre at Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy, took part in the Day of Joint Action “Learn. Care. Reach Out: Self-Help”.
The Day of Joint Action brought together the “How Are You?” community of Cherkasy Region.
Specialists from various sectors – law enforcement, healthcare, education, social protection, culture, and the non-governmental sector – serve as guides and ambassadors of self-help practices in their respective professional fields. Each of them knows where to find the available tools, how to use them personally, and how to share these practices with others.
The “Self-Help” section of the “How Are You?” platform was created not for occasional crisis situations but for regular everyday use.
Ambassadors of the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Programme in Cherkasy Region need to understand how self-help techniques work: how breathing influences the body, what mechanisms are activated in the brain, and how cognitive processes can be stimulated through physical activity and bodily practices. The effectiveness of a technique is not determined by its complexity.
The Day of Joint Action is held as part of Mental Health Awareness Month within the framework of the communication campaign “How Are You? Learn. Care. Reach Out” under the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Programme “How Are You?”, an initiative of First Lady Olena Zelenska.
“Thank you, colleagues, for your important daily work, expertise, and exchange of experience. The mental well-being of military personnel, rescuers, children, patients, and the residents of Cherkasy depends on your efforts. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to the Coordination Centre of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine / Mental Health UA,” noted Viktoriia Shepil, Regional Coordinator of the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Programme “How Are You?” in Cherkasy Region and a lecturer at Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy.
