On 1–2 April 2026, the II Annual Free Virtual Educational Conference on Disability, entitled “Seeds of Resilience: Shaping Characteristics for Enhancing Well-Being”, was held at Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy.

The event was organised by the Department of Primary and Special Education and the Department of Educational Management, Art Management, and Social Work.

The conference brought together academics, educators, social sector specialists, and practitioners in inclusive education to discuss current issues related to supporting individuals with disabilities, fostering resilience, and implementing trauma-informed approaches in the educational process.

Oleksandr Spriahailo, Vice-Rector for Scientific, Innovation, and International Activities, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech:

“Today’s conference is another important step in the development of this partnership. It provides an opportunity not only to exchange knowledge but also to develop new approaches and support strategies that truly change people’s lives. We are grateful to our partners, Bethel University, in particular Associate Dean Professor Katie Bonawitz, as well as to the organisations that consistently support the development of an inclusive environment.”

As part of the two-day programme, eight sessions were held, during which participants had the opportunity to explore contemporary approaches and practical tools in the following areas:

– fostering resilience and well-being;

– psychosocial support in times of crisis;

– inclusive education and teachers’ professional resilience;

– support for children with disabilities and their families;

– implementation of international standards on the rights of individuals with disabilities in Ukraine.

Special attention was paid to the implementation of trauma-informed approaches in the educational environment, which is especially relevant in today’s context.

Conference participants gained valuable experience, practical recommendations, and tools to enhance the effectiveness of their professional activities, as well as to create an inclusive and supportive educational environment.

Holding such events contributes to the development of interdisciplinary cooperation, the dissemination of best practices, and the promotion of the principles of inclusion and equal opportunities in Ukrainian society.
