The Vice-Rector for Scientific and Innovation Activities of Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy, Oleksandr Spriahailo, visited the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Economics in Riga, a leading research institution in Latvia, which focuses on the development of sustainable agricultural production and selection of agricultural crops.
Within the framework of a tripartite meeting with Mārtiņš Līgotnis, project manager-coordinator at the Technology Transfer and Information Center (with the participation of Volodymyr Konohrai, head of the agro-biological laboratory “Ukravit Institute” of the “Ukravit” company), the prospects for conducting joint scientific research in the area of agriculture, opportunities for undergoing internship by BKNUC students at AREI, and implementation of international academic mobility for students and staff were discussed. The representatives of the Latvian scientific institution expressed a particular interest in agro-ecological specialists, because the Educational-Scientific Institute of Natural and Agrarian Sciences of BKNUC trains highly qualified professionals under the “Agronomy” and “Ecology” educational programs.
“Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy pursues a consistent policy of internationalization of education and science, which allows staying at the forefront of the latest trends in the development of each field in which students are educated and scientific activity is conducted,” Vice-Rector Oleksandr Spriahailo noted. “Our graduates are highly valued in the Ukrainian labour market, however, we constantly strive to expand the possibilities of both their employment in international companies and conducting joint scientific activities or business with foreign partners, particularly in the agricultural sector. All these goals are fully achievable for both the university and our researchers and graduates.”
