The faculty of BKNUC continues to represent with dignity the university and the state at various international academic events. In particular, last week, Taras Romashchenko, Associate Professor at the Department of Economics and International Economic Relations, delivered a report at the University of Neuchâtel (Neuchâtel, Switzerland).
“The results of my research on the financial implications of forced migration from Ukraine during the war, recently published by Oxford University, have attracted the interest of colleagues from the University of Neuchâtel and the Swiss Sociological Association. This led to an invitation to participate in an international workshop entitled ‘Migration and Minorities: Inclusion and Exclusion’.
In my speech, I focused on the phenomenon of reverse remittances, which enable Ukrainian refugees to provide additional financial support to themselves abroad. The main emphasis was placed on the significant volumes of these transfers from Ukraine, as well as the still substantial dependence of forced migrants on such support from home. For many foreign colleagues, this state of affairs came as a surprise”, revealed Taras Romashchenko.
The workshop at the University of Neuchâtel brought together researchers of international migration from leading European institutions, primarily Switzerland and Germany. According to Taras Romashchenko, the participants were highly skilled experts, which made the theoretical and practical discussions extremely insightful and fruitful.
