Within the framework of the associated partnership between Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy and the European University Alliance E³UDRES², and at the initiative of the university’s International Relations Office, a 10-week online course titled “Ukrainian Language, Culture and History” was launched on 7 April 2026 for staff members of partner universities.
The course programme was developed by Anzhela Irzhavska, Associate Professor at the Department of World History and International Relations, who also delivers the course. Representatives of the Polytechnic University of Setúbal (Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal, Portugal) and Hochschule Fulda – University of Applied Sciences (Germany) are participating in the course.
The online course “Ukrainian Language, Culture and History” is designed for international students and academic staff to introduce them to the Ukrainian language, history, culture, traditions, and customs. Special emphasis is placed on the beginner level of language proficiency (A1). The programme aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of Ukraine by outlining the main stages of its historical development from ancient times to the present, familiarising participants with the richness of its folk, literary, and musical traditions, and highlighting the role of culture in shaping national identity and resilience. Participants acquire basic communication skills in Ukrainian as well as practical language tools for everyday use.
The course is free of charge and delivered online, ensuring flexibility and accessibility. Upon completion, participants receive a certificate indicating the number of hours completed and the ECTS credits earned.
