Tetiana Ocheretiana, a representative of the Rotary Club “Cherkasy-Synergy” and a graduate of Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy, recognised the university students for their volunteer work.
In September, the students of the Educational-Scientific Institute of Foreign Languages Yana Butsenko, Nataliia Vedmid, Viktoriia Tsybulia, together with a student of the Psychology Department, Anastasiia Mamalyha, took part in the international Rotary project Health of Children of Ukraine / Zdrowie Dzieci Ukrainy. For eighteen days, they served as caregivers for 33 children from Ukraine.
The girls volunteered in the Polish city of Zakopane, where, together with the children of fallen soldiers or defenders missing in action, helped to implement an intensive programme organised and funded by Polish and American philanthropists – Rotarians and representatives of the charity organisation Common Man for Ukraine.
For Yana, this was already her third trip, and this time she led the group.
“The girls supported, played, hugged, travelled, crafted, painted, swam, sang, and shared warmth and care 24/7,” said Tetiana Borysivna. “Their sincerity, empathy, and humanity are exactly what Ukraine and especially our children need so much today. And it was so moving to hear the words of gratitude from the mothers of these children!
Thank you, each of you, for your big heart and the kindness you bring into the world. Thank you to our university for nurturing such a young generation! I believe that young people like you are the true hope of our country.
My sincere thanks also go to the social partner of our Rotary Club, the Justini Accessories Store, for providing gifts for the girls! Sending hugs to everyone! We are getting ready for the next trip!”
