Master’s students of the “Rehabilitation Physical Culture and Sports” educational programme at the Educational-Scientific Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Health of Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy gained valuable practical experience at the modern OSNOVA Rehabilitation Centre in Bukovel from 2 to 10 May 2026.

The internship provided students with an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of advanced recovery technologies and to master methods regarded as the “gold standard” of modern physical rehabilitation.

The key areas of training included device-based physiotherapy, hydrokinesiotherapy, suspension therapy, innovative exercise equipment, as well as diagnostics and research, which in turn contributed to the work on master’s projects. The students mastered the use of a wide range of equipment and therapeutic methods, including pressotherapy, magnetotherapy, shockwave therapy, laser therapy, and electrostimulation. Particular attention was paid to physical rehabilitation in an aquatic environment. Future specialists learnt the technique of underwater spinal traction, one of the most effective methods for relieving strain on the musculoskeletal system. The trainees worked with the Redcord and Levitas systems. These systems make it possible to conduct kinesiotherapy in a semi-weightless state, which is critically important for patients with limited mobility. In addition, the students became acquainted with the specialised pneumatic exercise equipment produced by the Finnish company HUR. This equipment allows the exercise load to be precisely adjusted, taking into account the individual needs of patients recovering from injuries. Cycle ergometer testing was an important part of the practical training. The students independently conducted exercise stress tests to assess the body’s tolerance to physical exertion. This enabled them to observe in practice how the cardiovascular system responds to physical activity and how hidden pathological changes can be identified.

The internship at the OSNOVA Rehabilitation Centre enabled the students to combine theoretical knowledge with real clinical experience, forming a solid foundation for their future professional careers in the fields of sports and rehabilitation.

We express our sincere gratitude to Oleksandr Volodymyrovych Lishchyna, Director of the OSNOVA Rehabilitation Centre, and leading rehabilitation specialist Alisa Posikun for providing the opportunity to undertake an internship at one of the best rehabilitation centres and for the invaluable experience and knowledge.
