Oleksandra Demianenko, Head of the International Relations Office of Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy, visited Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Germany with the aim of developing cooperation in the field of education and science.

German Bielefeld is a sister city of Cherkasy. On May 11, 2023, the two cities signed an Agreement on establishing a solidary partnership and future cooperation. An important component of the Agreement is the strengthening of economic, scientific and technical, cultural ties.

The program began with Oleksandra Demianenko’s meeting with the Head of the International Office of Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Judith Peltz, and the Coordinator of cooperation with Ukraine, Sebastian Neuhaus-Ewering. The program of the several-day visit also included a tour of the university campus, getting to know the representatives of the faculties and areas of training of future specialists. In particular, together with the representatives of the International Office of the host party, the Head of the International Office of BKNUC visited the engineering laboratories and talked with Doctor of Sciences, Professor of the Faculty of Engineering and Mathematics Jens Haubrock about projects in the field of renewable energy and electrical engineering and the conditions for possible participation in their implementation by the scientific community of BKNUC. Associate Professor of the Department of Economics and International Economic Relations of BKNUC Taras Romashchenko, who is doing a research internship at another Bielefeld university, joined the program of the visit.

In addition, within the scope of the visit, the projects implemented by the Centre for Health, Social Welfare and Technologies of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts were discussed and the prospects for inter-university cooperation were outlined.

According to the results of the visit, agreements have been reached regarding the academic mobility of students, scientific and pedagogical staff, as well as further work on expanding the areas of cooperation between Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy and Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
