Cherkasy Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University has joined the Unity Initiative Program launched by the British consulting company Cormack Consultancy Group with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

The  program included an online meeting with the representatives of Roehampton University (London, UK). The meeting was moderated by Cormack Consultancy Group Manager Angela Stashchak.

Rector of CNU Oleksandr Cherevko spoke about the University's hundred-year history, its achievements, high ratings and dynamics of development, its structure and scientific potential. He noted that thanks to an investment project, one of the academic buildings had been rebuilt and equipped of late. However, the facilities of the ESI "Institute of Medical Education" and the Department of military training needs to be improved. According to Oleksandr Cherevko, it is military and medical specialties that are strategically important in the context of countering the Russian aggression. Thus, CNU will actively develop them involving, among other things, grant and partner programs.

He also noted that Cherkasy National University is a center of patriotic education in the center of Ukraine and after the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the university community has been providing assistance to refugees and conducts serious logistics work.

But at the same time, the educational process goes on, and the faculty keep actively working as well. Therefore, the academic community of CNU is ready to cooperate, conduct joint research, conferences, internships and participate in grant programs. And after the victory, Cherkasy residents will be happy to see their partners on the peaceful Ukrainian land.

In his turn, Dr. Tom Duan  while introducing the University of Roehampton said that it traced its history back to the XIX century. It is located in the picturesque west of London, where there are many historical attractions.

About 9,000 students are receiving higher education in the schools of business and law; arts; humanities and social sciences; life and health sciences; psychology, as well as teaching.

The university has a biomechanics laboratory, an eSports arena and much more. The staff members conduct world-class research in all academic departments of the institution.

Roehampton University is in the top 30 universities in the UK in the following specialties: classical and ancient history (5th), religious studies and theology (24th), history (30th) according to the Guardian 2020.

Representatives of more than 140 nationalities from all over the world are currently studying at the University. 28% of university students are foreigners, but in general the student body is diverse. Inclusion is given great importance, social projects are being implemented, and the university has many partnerships.

As a result, the parties agreed to shape a vision for further cooperation, the details of which should be discussed at permanent online meetings.

— We met and outlined plans for mutually beneficial cooperation. I believe that this will give us an additional incentive for development. We thank Mr. Charles Cormack for helping in establishing new international relations. I am grateful to our new and long-standing partners from the UK, as well as to all the numerous representatives of the world scientific community who from the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, offered support to our scientists, students, and the entire university community! It inspires and empowers us so much!
