On 21 May 2026, Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy concluded two important international agreements with Saxion University of Applied Sciences (Enschede, the Netherlands).
On behalf of Saxion University of Applied Sciences, the documents were signed by Janco Bonnink, Director of the International Office for Education and Student Support, and on behalf of Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy – by Oleksandr Spriahailo, Vice-Rector for Scientific, Innovation and International Activities.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishes a general framework for partnership in the fields of education, consultancy, and research. It provides for the possibility of student and academic staff exchanges, the implementation of joint and double educational programmes, as well as the conduct of scientific research and academic projects.
The Academic Cooperation Agreement (ACA) defines specific mechanisms for the exchange of students and staff. According to the agreement, each university will nominate two students annually to study at the partner university for one semester (30 ECTS credits). The language of instruction is English (minimum required level: IELTS 6.0). Students will pay tuition fees only to their home university and will be exempt from tuition fees at the host university; however, they will be responsible for all personal expenses, including accommodation, transport, travel arrangements, meals, and books. The agreement also includes the exchange of lecturers and staff in the form of short-term visits or longer-term internships.
Saxion University is one of the leading universities of applied sciences in the Netherlands with campuses in Enschede, Deventer, and Apeldoorn. It trains specialists in the fields of technology, business, healthcare, social sciences, and creative disciplines.
“We visited Saxion University of Applied Sciences during the E³UDRES² General Assembly in April 2025 and were impressed by the innovation and openness of this institution. Saxion is an environment where learning and practice are inextricably linked, and international cooperation is part of the university culture. We hope that this agreement will be the first step towards a deep and fruitful partnership that will open new horizons for our students and academic staff,” said Svitlana Koval, Head of the International Relations Office.
