On 28 May, Professor at the Department of Automation and Computer-Integrated Technologies at Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy, Halyna Lutsenko, and Doctor of Philosophy and lecturer at the same department, Dariia Tinkova, took part in the international scientific and pedagogical event “IPS Seminar on Teaching Practices”, organised by the Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal (Polytechnic University of Setúbal, Portugal).

The seminar was held within the framework of the E³UDRES² University Alliance and brought together participants in a blended format: part of the activities took place offline at the Polytechnic University of Setúbal, while online participants joined from various European countries.

In the online format, presentations were delivered by teaching practitioners and researchers from Romania, the Netherlands, Finland, Austria, and Ukraine. Representatives of Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy presented the report titled “Integrating Generative AI into a Data Analysis Course for Pre-service Computer Science Teachers”, which focused on incorporating generative artificial intelligence into the preparation of future computer science teachers. The presentation highlighted the experience of using generative AI tools in teaching the discipline “Data Analysis and Visualisation”, particularly focusing on developing students’ skills in critical data analysis, academic integrity, assessment of student performance, and the development of digital competence.

The presented topic generated significant interest among seminar participants and stimulated active discussion on the prospects and challenges of applying generative artificial intelligence in higher education. Special attention was given to the issues of transforming the lecturer’s role, adapting educational programmes to new technological realities, and finding effective pedagogical approaches in the context of the rapid development of digital technologies.

Participation in international events of this level is an important component of the professional development of scientific and pedagogical staff of Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy. It promotes academic cooperation, exchange of experience, and the integration of Ukrainian higher education into the European educational space. The modern higher education system today faces new challenges related to digital transformation, the development of artificial intelligence and the need to rethink approaches to teaching and assessment. Therefore, international dialogue and the joint search for effective educational solutions are becoming especially important for ensuring the quality of future professionals’ training.
